Charles Garcia Named President of Twin Cities Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers

ST. PAUL, Minn.--BUSINESS WIRE—Minnetronix, a medical device design and manufacturing firm, is proud to announce the appointment of Charles Garcia, Business Development Manager, as President of the Twin Cities Professional Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE).

SHPE was founded in Los Angeles, Calif., in 1974 by a group of engineers employed by the City of Los Angeles. Their objective was to form a national organization of professional engineers to serve as role models in the Hispanic community. The organization was formed on the belief that heritage, social responsibility and a desire to improve the equality of all people, can be achieved through the use of science and technology.

The concept of networking was the key basis for the organization. SHPE quickly established two student chapters to begin the network that would grow to encompass the nation as well as reach countries outside the United States. Today, SHPE enjoys a strong but independent network of professional and student chapters throughout the nation.

Garcia, who was first introduced to SHPE while attending Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo, Calif.), quickly recognized the strength of the organization as a professional and unique collaboration of individuals that prepared students for a successful engineering career.

Garcia shared, “The local SHPE Professional Chapter has made great strides in promoting the organization and contributing to the community in a positive manner. As President of the Twin Cities SHPE Professional Chapter, I look forward to assisting the organization in improving their visibility and promoting the essence of the organization, furthering the message of excellence in education, professional pursuits and leadership.”
