History
The founders of Minnetronix started the company with the prospect of one major project, the development of software and electronics for an electric-motor-driven total artificial heart
(ETAH). This project helped lay the groundwork for Minnetronix' technology and rapid business growth.
1996
- January, company founded by 3 engineers, originally incorporated as Cardinal Engineering Systems, Inc.
- February, began development of an implantable Electronic Total Artificial Heart (ETAH), a joint effort with 3M Company and Penn State University
- April, officially became Minnetronix, Inc.
- December, facility grew from 1000 to 3000 sq. ft.
1997
- August, moved to 10,000-sq. ft. facility
- September, added manufacturing capabilities
1998
- March, received FDA medical device manufacturer registration
1999
- November, received ISO 9001:2000 certification
2000
- May, received Small Business Award of Excellence from St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce
- October, moved into a brand new 20,000-sq. ft. facility with administrative, design, and manufacturing space built to suit
- November, installed basketball hoop.
2001
- April, first FDA QSIT inspection with no findings or observations
2002
- Spring, lunch running group gains seventh member
- June, Rich Nazarian named finalist for Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award.
- October, received a Technology Company award at Minnesota Tekne Awards 2002 in Advanced Manufacturing: Emerging
Company category.
2003
- May, received ISO 9001:2000
- December, received ISO 13485:1996 certification
2004
- March, second successful FDA full QSIT inspection with no findings or observations.
- June, Lynn Ihlenfeldt named one of 100 Notable People in the Medical Device Industry by MD&DI magazine.
- August, named a Great Place to Work (pdf) by Twin Cities Business Journal.
- October, named Medical Technology: Emerging Company award finalist in Minnesota's 2004 Tekne Awards.
- December, received ISO 13485:2003 certification.
2005
2006
- February, Rich Nazarian named a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering in Washington, D.C.
- May, received Small Business Award of Excellence from St. Paul Area
Chamber of Commerce.
- September, held an Open House in our newly expanded facility.
- September, named Medical Technology - Devices, diagnostics and equipment:
Emerging Company award finalist in Minnesota's 2006
Tekne Awards.
2007
- April, named supplier to a 2007 Medical Design Excellence Award winner, the Symbiq™ infusion system.
